Brighton Beach Memoirs

The Brighton Beach Memoirs was a play about a particular family during the World War II. The family consists of Eugene, Eugene's mother, Uncle Jack, Laurie, Stanley, Nora, Blanche. They all have problems inside themselves that they want to deal with. Eugene desperately wants to become a part of the Yankees. He shows great passion and practices baseball. He is also going through puberty and shows a big interest in girls. He bothers Stanley in times of trouble asking for how women bodies are like. Stanley accidentally did rude things to his boss standing up for a poor man. He doesn't want to write the apology letter, but his dad persuades him to. After receiving his pay, he gambles all the money he earned and loses them. While Stanley has his own problem, Blanche goes out with Mr Murphy, and needs to dress herself up. Family in such bad situation, Eugene's mother gets mad at Blanche for asking for help untimely. The problems cause a big fight between Eugene's mother, and Blanche, later making Blanche to declare she would split away from the house and live her own life. Nora needs an adult to decide whether she should forfeit academic ways and audition for broadway shows. Blanche is in dilemma and tells Nora to ask Uncle Jack for the decision. Nora is only wishes she had her father back, because her father would have made the decisions for her life, not Uncle Jack. Eugene's father is very worried about their financial issues in the family and how he will have his relatives come to his house from Poland to escape the war. Later, the family resolves the problem by telling each other the truth of what really happened. The family understands each other and the conflict is resolved.
